Thorns

I just had a realization.

I'm almost halfway through college! After all those breakouts, pressures, sleepless nights and whole lot of unhealthy stuff, I've made it. I would have to say it's not easy. Not easy at all. There were times when I wanted to give it all up nd shift to an easier course. But I guess that wouldn't solve my problems. I may have a more relax life in another course but that wouldn't take me to my dreams. I just have to accept that there's always no easy way out when you want it the most.

The Parable
Jack was a shepherd living in a small town. One day there was famine in their town. For days, there wasn't anything to feed the sheep. Jack heard that there was a field in the other side of the country filled with green grass. Along with other shepherds, Jack set on to travel to the other side of town. As they travelled, they came across a fork in the road. One was paved and the other was rough. The other shepherds decided to go to the paved road but Jack decided to cross the rough road. The rough road was full of thorns but Jack still pushed on. Later that day, Jack became tired and badly bruised by the thorns. He sat down on a rock an started to cry. He regretted taking the rough road and wished he had listened to the other shepherds. Then he remembered the knife that he brought. With new hope, he got up and continued his journey using the knife to cut the thorns down. One day, Jack met the other shepherds. They were all badly bruised. The paved road led them to the rough road. The construction was not yet done and they couldn't get pass the thorns. Jack merely smiled.

The Lesson
Thorns are part of achieving you dreams. But it doesn't mean that you have to go through it alone. God gives us knives to cut the thorns down. My knives are my friends and family. They're the ones who are there to help me cut the thorns blocking me from my dreams. Sure, I can have an easier route to my dream by taking a shortcut and freeload on people. Many people have done that. But what they do not know is that there are more thorns in the outside world. If I don't have experience with thorns because I freeloaded on people the entire college life, how am i to survive the outside world? The people I freeload won't always be there for me. But if I chose the rough road with thorns, I carry on the knowldge on how to battle the thorns. That way, I already know how to battle the thorns in the outside world. =D
