Audience of One

my whole body ached from this afternoon's practice for an upcoming musical play sponsored by our church. we rehearsed for almost two and a half hours continuously and had only one water break in between. We finished the choreography of the whole song and it was full of jumping and gestures of rejoicing since the song entitled Home To Heaven is about going going to heaven someday. We are rejoicing knowing that we are going to be with God in heaven someday!
I've been rehearsing for almost a month now and I've realized that I've been focusing so much on getting the dance steps right and the physical pain I'm feeling instead of focusing on the purpose of the dancing for the play - to glorify God.

(I thank Achie Emlyn for reminding us last week that we are performing for an audience of one.)

I invite all of you to watch:

Halfway Through ComSci

I was not meant for Comsci. I didn't know anything about computers and I am poor in analytical thinking. I hate solving and I never knew programming exists until I entered Comsci...

ComSci wasn't my first choice. I dreamt of being a visual arts supervisor in TV or film so wrote Comsci down my application form since it's the second closest course to my dream job. I thought the course was just about creating animations, developing websites, editing photos, etc. Little did I know that it involved a lot of analytic thinking and logic - the two things I've been trying to get rid of since HS. The first time I encountered a lesson in programming, I immediately hated it. I couldn't understand a thing the professor was teaching. I failed the long quizzes and didn't know whether I'd survive the first term of my first year. I figured that if I failed this subject, I'd immediately get out of the course. But God had other plans for me. He had blessed me with a grade of 2.0 and I knew then that He wanted me to stay just right there...

Two years after that experience, I am still here and proud to say that I was able to get through the course without failing a single course. Of course, I couldn't have done all those alone. God has guided me through the journey and still guiding me until the remaining two years. He has given me and has blessed me with all the people and help I need. Sometimes even more..

I guess I am meant for Comsci after all... I have learned a whole lot about life during my two years in college And perhaps I would't have been the person I am today if I were in a different course. God had really planned this all along. I eventually learned to love the course and I'm really really glad that I am able to use the things I have learned in school for the glory of God.

Some things I have learned in college:
- always rely on God. You can't do anything alone.
- always strive for the best.
- God's plans are better than ours.
- never be afraid or ashamed to ask for help.
- be patient even if you are having a hell of a day because you never know who you affect.
- God is always there for you. He may be silent at times but He is always there.
- prayer is powerful.
- people change.
- God never changes.
- family and friends are treasures. They are gifts from God.
- friends may come and go but family will always be there for you. treasure them.
- first impressions are not always correct. It helps to look twice.
- sometimes we just have to let go and let God.
- God is more interested in our availability than our ability.

College is a glimpse of life... there are some subjects that you feel are useless. there are subjects that you don't like to take. there are professors who are unfair. But they're there for a reason.
In life, there are things that you don't like to do but have to do. there are experiences that may seem unfair. there are people you wish you never met. But they're there for a purpose.
So live life to the fullest, take risks, strive for the best, learn to slow down and relax, face your problems boldly... because God is with you!

Godbless everyone and have a happy term break!
